| National Guitar Workshop Announces 2008 Blues Summits |
World renowned blues musicians Sonny Landreth, Duke Robillard, Hubert Sumlin and Bob Margolin will be the featured artists with the National Guitar Workshop’s Blues Summits in Austin, Chicago and Connecticut. The National Guitar Workshop is the largest summer music workshop program with eight locations across the country. Each week students will gather to work with some of the best music instructors in the nation and get to participate in master classes with the most influential blues musicians around.
Sonny Landreth, fresh from a performance with Eric Clapton at the 2007 Crossroads Festival, will share his skills with students at our Chicago campus. All students enrolling in the Chicago Blues Summit will also have the chance to perform at World Famous Buddy Guy’s Legends Club. Austin has a long history of blues music and this year NGW will be bringing Duke Robillard to Austin. In addition to getting a chance to learn from a jump blues master like Duke, students will be featured at the historic Antone’s club in downtown Austin. It is rare opportunity to be able to interact with one of your heroes’ heroes, but at our New Milford, CT campus that opportunity is available. Hubert Sumlin and Bob Margolin will be presenting a duo clinic that will be steeped in blues history from Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf to Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. Hubert and Bob are both excellent musicians as well as storytellers and this clinic shouldn’t be missed. The National Guitar Workshop is dedicated to bringing the best in music education to guitarists, bassists, keyboardists, drummers and vocalists, regardless of style of music or level of music ability. Our acclaimed faculty and world-renowned guest artists combined with a highly developed curriculum and supportive learning environment foster meaningful experiences through performance instruction, jamming and master classes.
