Mississippi Valley Blues Festival
For thirty years, volunteers of the Mississippi Valley Blues Society have been organizing and presenting the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival. Until 2015, this three-day festival was held each year over the 4th of July weekend in picturesque LeClaire Park on the banks of the Mississippi River in Davenport, Iowa. Funding problems forced the cancellation of the 2015 Blues Festival, but, like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, it returns this year to LeClaire Park as a two-day festival. Please join us this year on July 1-2 for the return of the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival!
Through the care and attention paid in selecting performers to represent a variety of blues styles and the down-home non-commercial atmosphere of the fest, over the years the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival had become recognized as one of the finest blues fests in the country. The Blues Festival was awarded a Keeping the Blues Alive (KBA) Award for 2014 by the Blues Foundation in Memphis for Best U.S. Festival.
This year's edition will be held Friday, July 1 through Saturday, July 2 and in many respects, it represents a starting-over point for the festival. We hope you will join us for a great weekend of blues music and help us usher in a new era for the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival.
